On the Road
路上
On the Road resulted from my study trips in Europe and America, sponsored by the Asian Cultural Council and the British Council. Seeing these places first hand made me realise how different a world they were from Hong Kong, with their differences in social systems, the people’s relationship with their societies, their histories, systems of education, and cultural development. The culture shock also led to some great changes in my work. I began to see that a socially more developed, kinder, and culturally richer nation might actually allow me to soar, and the experience has inspired me to look at the world with more broad-mindedness.
《路上》是我有幸得到了亞洲文化協會及英國文化協會的贊助，到了歐美遊學所拍攝的作品。歐美和香港是兩種現實不同的世界，當中社會制度與人民的關係，影響着歷史、教育及文化發展。文化衝擊令我的作品也有很大程度的轉變。我認識到一個社會進步、較善、文化豐富的國度，好像可以讓我飛翔，也啟迪了我以寬宥遊戲的心去觀照大千世界。
